DMCA Used to (Attempt to) Stop PS3 Jailbreak Team

My favorite law of the land: Fourth Amendment.  Least favorite: Digital Millennium Copyright Act.  It's worthless.  I have previously written about DMCA and its ills.  And it's being used for no good again.

In the last week of December at the Chaos Communication Congress in Germany, a team of obviously very talented individuals made a presentation on the security of the Sony Playstation 3 and the poor implementation thereof.

Normally these events would not be posted, but Sony made it post-worthy by filing a suit against the team and another PS3 experimenter called "Geohot" based on a violation of the DMCA.  Regardless of what happens, the information is already out there; the bell has rung.  Maybe Sony's lawyers have nothing else to do; but this is certainly a waste of judicial resources that will prevent nothing, and draw more attention to the issue.

The video is posted after the break.
